Figures are technical elements competed in the 12-and-under and Youth (13-15) categories. Each age group has a different set of figures attributed to them, including mandatory and optionals.
U12 athletes will compete four figures at the competition. The optional group of figures is randomly drawn 18 to 72 hours before the start of the figure competition, and has to be made public.
Youth athletes will compete two figures at the competition. The figures have been split into three sections (A,B and C) of two figure groups. A draw will be made up to 72 hours ahead of the figure session to determine which section (A, B or C) is selected for that competition. Then before the start of the figures event, the athlete’s order of appearance will be randomly drawn and will separate the athletes into two groups. Then, a figure group from the section will be randomly assigned to each athlete group.

Each competitor must wear a black bathing suit with a white cap in order to lessen bias and favoritism as much as possible. Jewelry or makeup is not allowed.
Each figure is judged from the standpoint of perfection. The accuracy of positions and transitions are evaluated, as well as control, extension, speed, height, stability and uniform motion. Very good figure scores range from 8.0 to 8.9, while satisfactory is from 5.0-5.9. The highest and lowest scores are cancelled and the other are averaged. That average is then multiplied by the degree of difficulty of each figure.
