World Aquatics has unveiled the Artistic Swimming World Cup calendars for 2027 and 2028, while also confirming hosts for the World Youth and Junior Artistic Swimming Championships through 2030.
The announcement, sent via newsletter on Friday, October 16, outlines the next two World Cup seasons and four upcoming editions of the youth and junior championships.
The World Cup will continue on a format with four stops followed by a Super Final in both 2027 and 2028, maintaining the one used in 2026 for the first time. With the 2027 World Aquatics Championships scheduled for mid-July, the calendar points to another busy season for athletes and teams, particularly those also preparing for continental competitions.
2027 World Cup Circuit
The 2027 World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup will begin in Lima, Peru, in late February, followed by a second stop in March at a yet-to-be-announced location. The competition will then head to Paris, France, the following weekend, before its fourth stop in Markham, Canada, in late April. The circuit will end mid-June with the Super Final, at a host city also yet to be confirmed.
- February 26 – 28: #1 in Lima, Peru
- March 19 – 21: #2
- March 26 – 28: #3 in Paris, France
- April 29 – May 1: #4 in Markham, Canada
- June 11 – 13: Super Final
The Super Final being scheduled for June 11-13 leaves a potentially tight turnaround for European teams preparing for the European Games, which are expected to take place shortly afterward. However, the final dates for that competition have not yet been confirmed, making it difficult to assess the overlap at this stage.
One notable omission from the announced calendar for next year, but also 2028, is Spain. In 2026, Pontevedra hosted a World Cup stop, and the city and the Spanish Swimming Federation had previously announced plans to host the next three editions of the competition there. Spain’s absence from the 2027 and 2028 schedules at this time is therefore somewhat surprising, although it remains unclear whether discussions are ongoing or plans have changed.
World Aquatics has not provided a timeline for announcing the two remaining World Cup hosts.
2028 World Cup Circuit
Peru, France and Canada will return to the World Cup calendar in 2028, with Canada selected to host the Super Final in June.
That competition will carry additional significance as the last qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, where the remaining Olympic quota places in the team and duet events will be awarded.
- February 25 – 27: #1 in Lima, Peru
- March 24 – 26: #2 in Paris, France
- April 28 – 30: #3
- May: #4
- June 16 – 18: Super Final in Canada
With artistic swimming at LA 2028 scheduled for July 25-29, the Super Final will take place just over a month before the Olympic competition, leaving a relatively short window between the final qualification opportunity and the Games.
The remaining host locations for the third and fourth World Cup stops will be announced in due course, according to World Aquatics.
Youth and Junior World Championships Through 2030
World Aquatics also announced the hosts for the upcoming four editions of the World Youth and Junior Artistic Swimming Championships, confirming the calendar for both age groups through 2030.
Canada will host the World Youth Championships in 2027 and the World Junior Championships in 2030. Santiago, Chile, will stage the 2028 World Junior Championships, while Athens, Greece, has been selected to host the 2029 World Youth Championships.
- August 18 – 22, 2027: World Youth Championships in Calgary, Canada
- August 30 – September 3, 2028: World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile
- August 2029: World Youth Championships in Athens, Greece
- August 2030: World Junior Championships in Canada
